The #GiveHerACrown campaign was launched on National Women’s Day in the lead up to 16 Days of Activism in November.
Jaguar swiftly came on board as brand partner. Irene Kakooza, Jaguar’s Experiential Manager stated, “In a time when the world, and South Africa, desperately needs focus on empowering, recognising and protecting women, the #GiveHerACrown platform is an ideal and much-needed activism platform which Jaguar is delighted to support.”
Kakooza shares, “Jaguar and #GiveHerACrown share an ethos of empowering women and celebrating their fearless spirits and creativity. Creative expression can be used to communicate our individual and collective values, and this campaign fosters creativity in a very positive way. The arts are a powerful tool to express our inner selves to the world, and active engagements give voice to new ideas.”
The campaign shares the stories of South African survivors, activists, and influencers by giving them a digital crown and posting their stories on social media. The campaign ambassador, Zolani Mahola, has composed and recorded a new song for the campaign which is set to be released in the next few weeks! Also underway is an array of local artists that are creating bespoke crowns to be donated and auctioned off during SA’s 16 Days of Activism, commencing on 25 November 2020.
“We are more than just an automotive manufacturer”, says Kakooza… On a global level, Jaguar has undertaken many projects to highlight the roles women play in the automotive value chain – from a lap of honour with female racing driver Aseel Al Hamad to celebrate the lift of the ban on women drivers in Saudi Arabia, to launching campaigns designed to inspire talented female STEM students to further careers in the industry.”
